Sosialisasi Kepada Masyarakat Tentang Pengolahan Teh dari Belimbing Wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi) terhadap Penurunan Diabetes Melitus

Abstract


Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by elevated blood glucose levels that requires continuous prevention and management efforts. Wuluh starfruit leaves (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) contain secondary metabolites, including flavonoids, phenols, alkaloids, tannins, and coumarins, which have the potential to support diabetes mellitus management. This community service activity aimed to increase female students’ knowledge regarding the benefits of wuluh starfruit leaves and their processing into tea as an herbal beverage to support diabetes mellitus management. The activity was conducted in December 2025 at SMP Negeri 38 Semarang and involved 30 participants. The methods included health education through presentations, discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test questionnaires. Data were analyzed using a normality test followed by the Wilcoxon test. The results showed a significant difference in knowledge scores between the pre-test and post-test, with an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and a Z value of −3.756. The educational activity was effective in improving participants’ knowledge regarding the processing and utilization of wuluh starfruit leaf tea as an herbal beverage to support diabetes mellitus management.
