Sedekah Botol Plastik sebagai Strategi Pemberdayaan Jamaah dan Penguatan Kemandirian Ekonomi Musholla

Abstract


Baiturrahman Mosque, located in Bangunrejo Hamlet, Gondek Village, Mojowarno District, Jombang Regency, faces challenges in managing plastic waste and securing alternative sources of operational funding. Among approximately 21 households (HHs) surrounding the mosque, plastic waste has not been systematically managed, while operational funding still relies mainly on congregational donations. This community service program aimed to empower congregants through a plastic bottle donation program as an approach to waste management and an alternative source of funding. The program employed a participatory approach through community education, technology and knowledge diffusion, socialization, mentoring, and evaluation. The results showed that 12 of 21 households participated in the program. As of August 30, 2026, approximately 80 kg of plastic materials had been collected through eight sales, generating IDR 225,000. The program established a more organized waste management mechanism and generated additional funds to support the mosque's operational needs. These results demonstrate that mosque-based empowerment can integrate environmental awareness, congregational participation, and economic benefits.
