Abstract

Advances in information and communication technology through the internet and social media have transformed social patterns in society. Although social media facilitates communication and access to information, it also has the potential to cause negative impacts, such as the spread of misinformation. Social media users can become both victims and spreaders of misinformation if they lack adequate digital literacy. This situation calls for a critical, intelligent, and prudent approach to social media use in order to avoid misinformation and legal violations, including those related to the ITE Law. This community service program was carried out at the “Kirik Nguyuh” Kandang Pustaka Community, located in Girimukti Village, Kasokandel Subdistrict, Majalengka Regency. This community consists of 50–70 school-aged teenagers and was selected because its members are active on social media and the location is easily accessible to the implementation team. The activity was carried out using a historical method to understand the development of communication technology and changes in community behavior regarding social media use over time. The activity aimed to improve digital literacy, promote the wise use of social media, and encourage its utilization as an entrepreneurial opportunity. The results included scientific publications and articles in local and regional media.
