Abstract

Low Back Pain (LBP) is a musculoskeletal complaint that office workers are at risk of developing due to static sitting positions and non-ergonomic work postures. This community service activity aimed to improve understanding of ergonomics and provide self-directed exercises to support LBP prevention. The methods employed included physiotherapy education—delivered via presentations and the distribution of leaflets on correct sitting posture—and home-based exercises, specifically the William Flexion Exercise. Evaluations were conducted before and after the intervention using the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire and The Pain and Distress Scale. The results showed an increase in the proportion of participants with low-category musculoskeletal complaints from 50% to 80%. Regarding LBP specifically, the proportion in the low-severity category rose from 20% to 70%, while the high-severity category dropped from 60% to 0%. These results indicate a trend toward improvement in complaints following the intervention. Ergonomics education and self-directed exercises have the potential to serve as promotive and preventive measures against LBP among office workers.
